About Dance Marathon
Dance Marathon is a nationwide movement that challenges universities and high schools to raise money, spread awareness, and educate others about their local children’s hospital. The SUNY New Paltz Dance Marathon seeks to increase funds for, and spread awareness about, the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, in Westchester, NY. Those involved with the Dance Marathon hope to establish a partnership between the SUNY New Paltz campus, the local community, and most importantly the children, families and friends of the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. Last year our Dance Marathon raised $8,455.93 which helped fund a new Fluoroscopy Suite for the hospital. This Suite offers our region’s pediatric patients and families the highest quality diagnostic imaging with the lowest radiation dosage possible in a calm, child-friendly environment. After a year-long engagement of fundraising, Dance Marathon culminates in a celebration of dancing and staying on our feet for all eight hours. The meaning behind this is that children and their families spend weeks on-end sitting in hospital beds and we stand in solidarity to show them that they aren’t fighting alone.
Our main event will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 1pm to 9pm in the Student Union Building Multipurpose Room on the SUNY New Paltz Campus.
